Batam goodwill trip pt 2

When we came back to our campsite, we had another activity held for us. Batik making. Batik is a traditional Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth this was a new experience for me and it was a new way of artistic expression. We were given a batik pen which was filled with wax we kept having to refill our pens because it was used up very quickly. And because the pen was so hot we kept burning ourselves, so we had to be very careful and some of us came up with the idea where we put sand onto the hot wax to create a 'texture' but in the end, it turned out pretty nice for our first try

That night, we participated in an amazing race around the adventure park since it was so dark it was hard to see and it made us appreciate nature more as we could hear the croaks of frogs and the sounds of crickets. We had a two-man sack race to determine which patrol would go first, and when the last pair finished we quickly set off to finish the amazing race. The first station was what is in my mouth where we had to guess what flavor of the sweet was put in our mouth. I was given a lemon and since it was such a strong flavor my face quickly tensed up.

We after finding our way around in the dark, we head to the last station which was a memorizing game. APL Bellamy was chosen to memorize the items in the box in 10 seconds and to say eight of them to complete the station. We head back to the campsite to wash up and sleep

The next day we woke up to another morning exercise which was another dance to the song "Gemu Fa Mi Re" this song was fun and more catchy with more scouts participating and dancing to the song. After breakfast, we met with more Pramuka scouts and had a small dance-off with them, and we went to various stations to learn how to make food such as Roti Jala taught by Zetha. After this, I exchanged scarfs and woggles with a Pramuka scout and played football 5v5 football with them in the nearby field

After the activities with the Pramuka scouts, we got to slide down a giant inflatable waterslide this was something very different and fairly scary as the process to climb up felt very treacherous but it was worth it as we slid down the slide. I remember that my junior Matthew Miranda did not get out of the slide in time and I crashed into his legs causing him to backflip. It was a very scary experience but a the end he was fine.

It was a struggle to wash up as so many people were using the water so we could not wash up. there was a lack of it and when the water came back it was already very late.

After the slide activity, it was very close to night. and we head to a grassy area near the campsite to start the campfire. The campfire was very interesting and to be very dangerous as in Singapore this campfire could never be held. The wood was a bunch of sticks together amounting to around 2 meters high and the Pramuka scouts passed around a lighted stick saying the scout promise and law, before lighting up the campfire. I could feel the heat instantly when the fire was lit up even when I was 10 meters away. The fire was mesmerizing as the heat licked away the wood.

After the campfire was lit we began to perform and songs from our morning exercises and after that, we performed for the Batam scouts the Gabreilite Signature Move(GSM) where we practiced this in the afternoon

The fourth day was the last day on the campsite and we were going to a hotel, but before that, we bid farewell to the junior Pramuka scouts and a closing address by the leaders, and we took pictures with them.

We left the campsite to go to Mall Botania 2 where a small cuboree was happening. One activity of the cuboree was a fashion show where the seniors had to flex the badges and show off the Singapore scout uniform. We boarded the bus and after a few Lapis legit orders, we went on the bus to go to Harmoni ONe hotel, which would be where we would be spending our last night.

We were given time to pack our things and change before we left and went to the Harbour Bay Seafood Restaurant. Where we had our dinner on the last day, this was also when I talked to one of the Pramuka Scouts named Ana . Since she was a friend of Josh we also had a lot to talk about and she gave me a box to give to Josh however I have not given it to him until now, because we are all busy. This was also when Thalia went to ask for the number of previously (Rover) Sir Andrew.

After this, it was lights out and we retired to our rooms. But the night was young where we went to our friend's room to have more food and play Uno.

Surprisingly, when we woke up to have breakfast I had developed a bad smell and was complained about by others, so I went up to bathe and wash my clothes but the bad smell but to no avail. After this it was the bus and the ferry back home

going home!

This was a very exciting and new experience for me. As it was my first time going overseas without my family. I have learned many things from the trip and because of Covid-19, I am not able to visit them in the foreseeable future. I have made many friends with the Pramuka Scouts and I hosted them when they came the next year. It was a very fun experience and I hope to go again!
